Gdańsk University of Technology (GUT) is one of the largest technical universities and with it’s 1000-year tradition – one of the oldest technical universities in Poland. It is located by the Baltic sea in Tricity, capital of picteresque Pomarania region. Gdańsk is is a major industrial centre for shipyards, metallurgical and chemical plants, timber mills, and food-processing facilities.
Gdańsk Universoty of Technology is very active in international educational market. More than 400 inter-institutional agreements were signed for Erasmus+ programme and over 70 bilateral contracts of general character. To strengthen international potential the University coordinates and participates in projects such as Jean Monnet Programme, CEEPUS, Tempus or Leonardo da Vinci and much more.

In 1980, Gdańsk Shipyard was the birthplace of the Solidarity trade union movement, which sparked a series of protests that successfully overturned the Communist regimes of the former Soviet bloc. Solidarity’s leader, Lech Walesa (awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983) became President of Poland in 1990.
